How to Buy a Cheap iPad

We all agree that the iPad is a pretty awesome piece of kit, but for some people the price tag is just a little too steep. So, how can anyone manage to get their hands on an iPad without paying the full whack? Let’s see . . .

  1. Wait for the sales . . . yeh, right, what if you want an iPad before the end of November?
  2. Apply the 3 day rule . . . if you’re tempted to beg, borrow, steal or buy an iPad instead of eating for a couple of months, then you really ought to apply the 3 day rule. What is it? Well, don’t just buy one because you want one, go home and really think about it for at least 3 days, a bit of a “cooling off” period. Why do you want an iPad? Okay, that might seem like a silly question, but why do you really need one? Do you want to be able to browse the web on the run with a touch screen device . . . then maybe a smartphone is the answer, or an eReader or iPod Touch. Do you want to be able to keep up to date with your work on the move? Well maybe you ought to think about splashing out on a netbook instead. Maybe you just love to play games, well, it’s true that the iPad does have a brilliant bunch of games available, but then again so does a portable game console. How about a Nintendo DS or a Sony PSP. You see, iPads are brilliant, but there are other, cheaper ways to satisfy your urges . . .
  3. Be a little behind the times . . . technical gadgetry is out of date so quickly these days, and every time a new model is introduced by Apple you can quickly get your hands on a refurbished old one. Even these refurbished iPads have a one-year warranty and a new battery so if you can’t afford the absolute latest all singing, all dancing model then set your sights a little lower. The new ones will be out of date pretty soon too.
  4. Check out the sales ads . . . you know the private ones on auction sites or in the local newspaper. For every person who struggles to afford a new iPad there’s an equal number of addicts who can afford to replace their iPad every time a new model appears, or maybe they’ve just got bored with it. It’s all good news for you in your quest to buy a cheap iPad, you’ll have to be quick though, they do get snapped up like the proverbial “hot cakes”.
  5. Buy something else . . . this is kind of a follow on from #2, but if what you really want is a cheap tablet and thought that there was only the iPad available, then think again. How about an Android? Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, the Android tablet  is similar but different from the iPad as well as some other models which are certainly worth looking at if you’re trying to spend a little less cash.
