6 Document Collaboration iPad Apps
6 Document Collaboration iPad Apps
iPads are great for lots of things, but, to be honest, there are some things which they don’t excel at, still, you can’t please all of the people all of the time eh? Well, that’s what my Gran used to say when she dished up liver and onions for dinner . . . yuk! But the good news is, although the iPad isn’t that great at office productivity like a traditional PC, there are a few great apps which help to make it very useful nevertheless, enabling you to view, edit and then share documents with your iPad. Let’s take a look at a few of them . . .
Google Docs for iPad
Google Docs does work very well on the iPad, although one little problem is that you won’t be able to work offline on your documents . . . shame! Oh well, at least it has an offline storage feature which means that if you are in the middle of something important and you lose the signal you won’t lose all of that hard work. It’ll be waiting for you when you get back online. Google have actually added quite a few useful editing features to its mobile version, try it, you might like it!
MangoSuite for iPad
MangoSuite is great for downloading, uploading and viewing documents, but you won’t actually be able to edit them. If you want to edit these docs then you’ll need to use a different app (maybe QuickOffice or Pages) but, although you can’t edit the documents you can leave comments (positive ones!) have chats and receive notifications of any changes which have been made within the application. All useful stuff to help productivity don’t you think?
QuickOffice for iPad
QuickOffice has quickly become a very popular office suite for mobiles. It can work with MangoSuite (see above . . . just testing), Google Docs, Huddle, Dropbox as well as many other file sharing platforms. It’s pretty quick to get to grips with too, easy to understand and use . . . all very desirable qualities I’m sure you’ll agree, for when you need to increase the productivity capabilities of your iPad.
Box for iPad
Box has released a new version lately which makes it an even better app for document collaboration and file sharing with your iPad. It also gives you a massive 5GB of storage space absolutely free (must be a BIG box), plus tools for not only editing your documents but commenting on them too. Having Box on your iPad can save you both time and money . . . how’s that for a productivity bonus.
iWork for iPad
Do you? I work for myself. Ha ha, couldn’t resist that one . . . sorry, but anyway, iWork really is Apples own document suite for the iPad, so it’s very much centered around Apple. It can also be saved in Microsoft Office type formats and be shared with the public via iWork.com to make it absolutely compatible.
Dropbox for iPad
Dropbox is a great place where you can “drop” your files and documents for someone else to “pick up” and edit if necessary. File sharing and syncing has never been easier than if you use Dropbox on your iPad.
