How to Centralize Your Stuff – with Evernote
It comes as no surprise really, that the most productive members of society are the ones who have really “got it together”. You know the type, the ones who know where everything is, all of their stuff is in an orderly fashion and available at a moments notice without them having to turf out drawers or shuffle a huge pile of papers across their desk. Well, iPads need organizing too, otherwise how can you really keep a track on things, and one way which is really fantastic as centralizing your stuff is . . . using Evernote.
Evernote To The Rescue
Evernote helps you to store and easily access everything from notes to images or simple ideas on almost any device, you can also share them with your friends. You can create, view, and share stuff using desktop apps, mobile apps, web apps. If you make a few changes on the desktop app, for example, it will sync automatically to your iPad app and be there, ready for you next time you use your iPad. It really does help even the most disorganized of people to get really on top of things. Let’s look at some more of the great features available if you use Evernote on your iPad.
- Evernote File Storage – this is a cloud file storage service which can accept and store any type of file. Dropping a file onto a note means that it will be synced and saved by Evernote. You can also drag and drop a folder onto a note and it will be zipped and synced automatically. How’s that for service?
- Evernote Image Processing – if you add something like a scanned magazine article which includes an image, then the image will automatically be processed by Evernote. After you have added the image and it’s been processed by Evernote then you can search for any text in the processed image. iPad life really doesn’t get much simpler to organize than that.
- Task Management – yes, we all need a little help in the management of tasks department every now and then don’t we. Well, Evernote has a number of task management solutions up it’s sleeve. You don’t need to get anything too complicated or fancy though, just a “to do” list to check things which have “been done”. Evernote can do all of that for you.
- Sharing Notes – Evernote can help you to share notes on social networks like Facebook or Twitter, or other Evernote users. You can also make your notes public for all to see, if you want to.
- Web Clippings – Evernote has a really excellent web clipping service available for you. You can either choose to use Chrome Extension, Firefox add-on or their bookmarklet to quickly and easily clip a page range and have it sent to your Evernote account. Documents, email notes and PDF’s can also be sent straight to your Evernote account. Is there no limit to the talents of Evernote for the iPad? You can also use this great Evernote facility for, shall we say, more personal reasons. It’s a great way to store any interesting recipes you find online for example . . . you can end up with a fantastic collection, all suitably organized of course.
- Voice Recording – if you’re anything like me you’ll always get your best ideas and stuff which you really ought not to forget when you’re not in a position where you can type . . . you know, while you’re driving or are simply away from your computer . . . well, with Evernote you can make a voice recording which will be captured as a note. I do think that they’ve thought of everything.
- Secure Data – all of this sharing business is fine, but what about keeping things secure? Have Evernote thought about that too? Of course they have . . . they’ve thought of everything. Let’s be honest here, many people do have a bit of trouble trying to keep up to date with all of their passwords or product keys, so they resort to keeping a digital note of their private data . . . bad move, that’s not secure is it, especially when it’s all being stored in the cloud. Well, because of this Evernote use encryption. You can encrypt any text within a note, but do be warned, this method is so secure that if you lose your encryption password then your data is lost forever.
