iChromy for iPad – The Alternative Browser For Your iPad With “The Chrome Factor”
Apparently Google are not planning to bring the Chrome Web Browser to your iPad anytime in the near future, but there is another way. App maker Diigo has taken this opportunity to fill the Chrome gap with their new app, iChromy (original don’t you think)? This iPad browser is a free alternative which is very “Chromesque”. Ha ha, I wonder how many more words I can think of which start with Chrome . . . Chromability; Chromish; Chromelike . . . better stop that now, the spellchecker is going berserk. Anyway, it’s very similar to Chrome (as you might have guessed by now) and offers great stability.
You know how it is when you’ve just got far too many tabs open? No, well I don’t believe you, anyway, instead of crashing this clever chromy browser quietly and efficiently shifts the memory away from the tabs which you haven’t actually used for ages to stop the crash . . . they’ll easily re-open if you need them, but you must admit it’s a much better option than crashing and freezing.
There are some things which iChromy can’t do . . . it doesn’t have Dropbox connectivity (shame!), swipe gestures or full screen browsing amongst other things, but if you can live without them then it’s a very useful alternative browser. Did I mention it’s free? Oh well, it is, it’s quick to install and definitely worth thinking about.
