10 Brilliant Things to Do with Flipboard

I’ve already given you a bit of a taster of how good Flipboard is, but there’s so much more to it. Take a look at 10 brilliant and fantastic things you can do with Flipboard, and that’s just for starters. . .

  1. Google Reader – subscribe to Google reader and you can be sure that you won’t miss anything which might be of particular interest to you on the web. Well, none of us can spend ALL of our time searching and surfing can we? There are other things to do with our time . . . even if you can’t bear to tear yourself away from your iPad.
  2. Google Reader Folder – one step further than subscribing, then you should make yourself a Google Reader Folder in your Flipboard. That way you can be sure to check your Google Reader Folder every day to make sure that you don’t miss anything hot from your favorite blogs.
  3. Twitter Feed – you can subscribe to your very own personal twitter timeline. Flipboard makes the tweets and then turns everything into a great magazine. You might find a pattern emerging about the people who tweet when they’re supposed to be doing something else . . . like working! Flipboard really does help to make Twitter easy to read, whatever time of day.
  4. Make a Twitter List – If you have loads of people who you follow, then you can whittle the numbers down a little with a more exclusive Twitter List. Simply publish it and then subscribe to it. You can either have a private list of your closest pals or a public list of people who you find interesting. This is also great for those who don’t tweet themselves but like to find a list of people to follow from what they may regard as a credible source. The watchers not the tweeters.
  5. Follow Your Own Blog – okay, I agree that this might sound a bit “Simon Cowell” but bear with me for just a minute. If you want to learn how things really deploy in Flipboard then you should follow a blog to see . . . and if you blog then why not follow your own blog, then you’ll see things how others see them.
  6. Subscribe to Other Blogs – how about your Musical Society’s blog, or local school, church or Dance Academy. It seems that just about every organization or community has its own blog these days. Flipboard makes all of this so easy.
  7. Resource Sharing Blogs – many professions have great resource sharing blogs – teaching, law firms, accountants etc. Well, any of these blogs which are frequently updated and used do make excellent flipboards. Try to avoid the advertising types of blog or you’ll soon find your flipboard extremely cluttered. Remember, less is more . . .
  8. Facebook News Feed – can be added to Flipboard so that you can easily follow whatever comes in through your Facebook network.
  9. Tagged Photos – you can keep an eye on all Facebook photos which have tagged you. You might be surprised at what your “friends” will publish for their friends to see . . . it’s not always flattering!
  10. Keep on Adding – to your Flipboard. Search out new tools which will make a positive change to your life, but don’t ever let it take over. Once it takes over your life then you can be in real trouble.
